Abstract
1426642 Circuit breakers SIEMENS AG 8 Feb 1973 [19 April 1972] 6343/73 Heading H1N In a circuit breaker which opens when tripped a spring 65 resetting the latching lever 56 of the tripping mechanism is coupled to the switching operating shaft 40, on whose angular position depends the opening and closing of the switch, so as to be stressed when the switching shaft rotates on tripping of the circuit breaker. In closing the switch from an open position, toggle levers 42, 43, are brought into line against stop 46 thus rotating freewheel lever 47 so that roller 52 is displaced carrying with it lever 51 and thus switch lever 54 to turn switch operating shaft 40. Roller 55 associated with roller 52 runs along the inner edge of latching lever 56 which is held in position by a lug 62 bearing on a shaft 63. When the circuit is automatically broken this lug 62 is released by the rotation of shaft 63 and the latching lever falls free about pivot 60 so that roller 55 in contact with its inner edge is freed allowing associated roller 52 to move away from its position holding freewheel lever 47 which can then turn rotating the switch operating shaft 40 to the open circuit position. Deflection of the switching lever 54 on breaking the circuit causes the associated spring 65 to flex about a stop 70 on the latching lever and become stressed so as to be capable of returning the latching lever to its latched position ready for circuit closing. Further this deflection of the switching lever causes a traction spring 72 to be tensioned which urges the toggle levers back into their open circuit position.
