Abstract

1426617 Insulating conductors ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AB 11 June 1973 [12 June 1972] 27669/73 Heading H1A A heat-shrinkable sleeve 13 is heated by contact with molten metal so that it shrinks on to a conductor (31, Fig. 6, not shown) or bundle 26 of conductors 27 with individual insulation 28. Preferably the conductor(s) and sleeve are lowered slowly into a bath of the molten metal (Fig. 8, not shown). A layer 29 of material which is soft or liquid at the shrinkage temperature may be provided to fill pockets or irregularities in order to eliminate air spaces and consequent corona. The conduotor(s) may form a switch gear bar or a coil for an electrical machine. Suitable materials for the sleeve 13 and the layer 29 and suitable metals and alloys for the bath are listed.
