A conductor wire with or without its insulating coating is located in a mould and encapsulated in a foaming resin, e.g. polyurethane, to form a pad e.g. an electric blanket. The wire may be replaced by a conductive sheet. A plurality of separate wires may be located in a mould and encapsulated in a block which is subsequently divided into single wire bits.
