Abstract

1426352 Lubricating gearing W C HOLMES & CO Ltd 9 Feb 1973 6415/73 Heading F2Q Gears 6, 7 are located in a housing 5 containing a lubricant trough having a pair of segmental recesses 18, 20 which are adapted to retain lubricant into which the gears 6, 7 dip when the casing 5 is arranged horizontally, as shown in Fig. 3, and having an end segmental recess 26 into which the gear 7 dips when the casing 5 is arranged vertically, as shown in Fig. 4. The trough has a peripheral wall 10 and a side wall 12, the other side being open and formed with a flange 14 having holes 16 by means of which the trough can be bolted to an inside wall of the housing 5. Holes 23, 25 and 27 are formed in the periphery of the trough, the diameters of the holes being chosen to provide the required restriction of flow of lubricant into the trough.
