1426334 Pyrimidine azo dyes IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 18 July 1973 [10 Aug 1972] 37351/72 Heading C4P Pyrimidine azo dyes have the formula wherein A is an optionally substituted aromatic carbocyclic or heterocyclic radical, one of Y<SP>1</SP>, Y<SP>2</SP> and Y<SP>3</SP> represents -O-, -S-, or -NH-, and the other two each represent -NH-, each of R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> independently represent an optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl radical; X, which is attached to a carbon atom in the dye molecule, represents a direct link or an optionally substituted alkylene, arylene or divalent heterocyclic radical and Q represents -COOH, -OCOZCOOH or -NRCOZCOOH in which R represents H or alkyl and Z represents a direct link or an optionally substituted alkylene or arylene radical, said dyes being free from sulphonic acid groups. The dyes are made by diazotization and coupling, and give greenish yellow to red shades on polyesters, cellulose esters, polyamides, polyacrylonitrile, polyurethanes, and blends of the above with each other or with wool or cellulosic fibres.
