Abstract

1426730 Azo dyestuffs IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 5 July 1973 [15 Aug 1972] 22584/73 Divided out of 1426729 Heading C4P Water-insoluble azo dyestuffs, free from sulphonic acid groups, have the formula wherein A represents an opt. subs. aryl radical devoid of a carboalkoxy group in an ortho position to the azo link or an opt. subs. isothiazole or thiadiazole radical; X is H, Cl, Br, alkyl or alkoxy; Y is alkyl; Z is alkylene; R<SP>1</SP> is H or opt. subs. alkyl and R<SP>2</SP> is H or opt. sub. alkyl or aryl, or R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are jointed together to form with the -N-CO- group a 5- or 6-membered N-containing heterocyclic ring containing two -CO- groups attached to the said N atom. The dyes are produced by diazotization and coupling, and give yellow to blue shades on aromatic polyesters, cellulose acetates, polyamides, polyacrylonitrile, polyurethanes and blends of the above-mentioned fibres with each other and with natural fibres such as wool and cellulosic fibres.
