Abstract
1426139 Refrigerating INTEGRAL PROCESS SYSTEMS Inc 26 March 1974 [23 Aug 1973] 13285/74 Heading F4H In apparatus for refrigerating articles 22, (Fig. 2c) passing on a perforated conveyer 20 from an inlet 18 to an exit 19 of a thermally insulated tunnel 11, a liquid cryogen, e.g. nitrogen is sprayed thereover from an upper nozzle assembly 23 (Fig. 2a) and the portion of unevaporated liquid passes by gravity flow from a lower, inclined baffle 36 to an external recirculation path 32, Fig. 6 formed as a sump. Evolved cryogen gas 31 flows towards the inlet along a path defined by a baffle 28 beneath the conveyer for precooling of the articles, a portion of the gas being evacuated at 38 and the remainder passing beneath the baffle to the sump to pick up the liquid 37 in the form of droplets under the influence of a rotary blower 30 for reintroduction into the tunnel 11. Axial flow fans 42 are spacedly mounted in the roof of the tunnel to produce turbulent flow of the gas and the roof may be formed of removable sections.
