Abstract
1426138 Crimping apparatus TEXTURED YARN CO Inc 21 March 1974 [22 March 1973 5 July 1973 11 Oct 1973 19 Feb 1974] 12681/74 Heading D1F A crimping apparatus has an entrance 25 and exit 35 for the strand and means to laterally confine the strand therebetween with fluid jetting means 24 adjacent the entrance to forward the strand and with openings 34 forming a fine screen adjacent the exit, the screen contacting the external atmosphere outside and the strand inside. The inside of the confining means enlarges either in steps 32a, 32b and/or by flaring of the end. Additional apertures may be provided in the form of backwardly raked openings 7a, 7b, 7c which can have a sleeve or sleeves with further apertures 37a, 37b, 37c (Fig. 13) which can be moved relative to the apertures 7a', 7b', 7c' to control the eflux of fluid. The crimper may have feed rolls 16 to feed material into the crimper. Strand fed to the crimper may be passed through a drawing zone formed by godet and separator rolls, Fig. 1 (not shown).
