Abstract

1426098 Electric clocks SEIKO KOKI KK 4 June 1973 [9 June 1972] 26462/73 Heading G3T [Also in Division F2] A drive transmission mechanism, e.g. for use in a clock, comprises a pair of reciprocated driving pawls 11,13 which act alternately on a toothed driven member 3, one pawl only, the pawl 13, also acting intermittently on a second toothed driven member 5 when the driving end 13a of the pawl enters at least one notch 3b in the member 3. As shown the members 3, 5 are coaxially mounted satchet wheels but they may alternatively be chains or racks. The pawls 11,13 have split ends which frictionally engage eccentric bosses 8, 9 on a gear 10 driven by a pinion 18 of a synchronous motor. Reverse motion of the wheel 5 is prevented by a non-return pawl 15 which is frictionally mounted on a boss 17 arranged coaxially on the gear 10. The wheel 3 may be dished with the wheel 5 located therein Fig. 5 (not shown). A clock mechanism is described in which a seconds hand shaft 102, Fig. 6, is fixed to a dished ratchet wheel 103 and loosely carries a minutes hand shaft 104 attached to a ratchet wheel 105. The wheels are advanced by a pair of driving pawls (111, 113) Fig. 7 (not shown) which are eccentrically mounted on a motor-driven gear (110). The wheel 105 drives a wheel and pinion 132, 134 and thus a wheel 122 fixed to hours hand shaft 121. For setting, a contrate toothing 136 on the wheel 132 is engaged by a pinion 137 fixed to a knob 138.
