Abstract

1426089 Protection of transistor amplifying circuits CLARION CO Ltd 17 Dec 1973 [21 Dec 1972] 58494/73 Headings H3T and H4J In a protection arrangement for a plurality of independent amplifiers means are provided for sensing the drive condition of the final power stages of the respective amplifiers and for providing a signal when an overdrive occurs in one of the amplifiers and further means responsive to this signal for rendering all the amplifiers inoperative. Each amplifier, e.g. U2 is provided with a resistor R in series with the output stages and when the voltage across this reaches a predetermined value a corresponding diode D 01 becomes conductive: when the voltage at the tap on potentiometer VR rises sufficiently, silicon controlled rectifier SCR becomes conductive and, via diode D 11 biases transistor Q 2 non-conductive. As a result, transistors Q 3 - Q 5 also become non-conductive, while the other amplifiers are also similarly biased non-conductive via corresponding diodes D 12 -D 14 . Switch SW enables the system to be restored to normal condition.
