Abstract

1425830 Hose clips B S STEVENS 7 May 1973 [9 May 1972] 21494/72 Heading E2B A hose clip assembly comprises a housing in which a worm 10 is rotatably mounted, the housing having an opening through which can pass both end portions of a tape 18 in opposite directions, the tape comprising a plurality of holes 18a or indentations and at one end a rack 16 whose teeth mesh with the helix of the worm when one end portion is passed through the housing; and keying means connected with the housing whereby the other end portion of the tape is passed through the housing until the tape is cut approximately to the required girth, the keying means is engaged in a selected one of the holes or indentations to anchor the tape in the housing and tightening is effected by rotation of the worm. The housing comprises two portions 12, 12a secured by a key 14 carrying an abutment 14a which engages in the selected hole or indentation in the tape. The worm has a hexagonal cross section hole 10a therethrough for a key for turning it. The rack may be secured to the tape or be integral therewith. The hose clip may be made of plastics.
