Abstract

1425500 Polyurethane adhesive ADHESIVE TAPES Ltd 15 July 1974 [20 July 1973] 34807/73 Heading C3R A pressure-sensitive adhesive comprises a partially cross-linked polyurethane of chain length <130 atoms, e.g. 38-125 atoms, formed by reacting polyol(s) terminated with primary and/or secondary OH groups, and an organic polyisocyanate in <stoichiometric amount, e.g. 80-95% stoichiometric. The polyol may be a mixture of a diol of M.W. 1000-3000 and a triol of M.W. 300-600. A pressure-sensitive adhesive material may be made by coating the reactants on to a substrate, e.g. polymer film, cloth, or paper, and curing, e.g. at 60-200‹ C.
