Abstract
1424758 Abrasive discs TYROLIT-SCHLEIFMITTELWERKE SWAROVSKI KG 19 April 1973 [12 Oct 1972] 19161/73 Heading C4V A flexible abrasive disc comprises a mounting plate, an intermediate layer including granular abrasive material bonded on the mounting plate, a core in the form of fibrous web or gauze on the intermediate layer and an outer layer including granular abrasive material bonded to the core, the grains of the intermediate layer being finer than those of the outer layer. The average grain size of grains in the intermediate layer is preferably not more than 150Á and the grain size in the intermediate layer is preferably at most 80% of that of the outer layer. Preferably, the same resin bond is employed in both the intermediate and outer layers. Suitable bonding materials are phenolic resins, resins of epichlorohydrin, polyesters, or melamine resins. The core may be a glass fibre fabric and the mounting plate may be an impregnated glass fabric.
