1423654 Flyers JAMES MACKIE & SONS Ltd 15 May 1973 [17 May 1972] 23252/72 Heading DID A flyer for winding a package of textile material has at least one leg 1 extending from a head portion 3 to a guide 11 at its opposite end, the leg being fitted with an outer covering constituted by a removable member 22 having a cylindrical outer surface. The member 22 is preferably a chromed steel tube but may be in the form of a helix. In a preferred embodiment, the flyer comprises two legs 1 and 2 joined by a ring 4 at their lower ends, each leg being provided with a removable member 22, 24 which rests on the ring 4. The members 22, 24 are interchangeable. The member 22 may be a close push fit on the leg I or may be a loose fit and rotatable by passage of the yarn 8 round the leg in coils 20. A guide 12 is positioned adjacent the lower end of the leg 1 and is fixed to the ring 4 by means of an arm 15 and screw 16.
