Abstract
1423510 Arc limiting DELTA CONTROLS Ltd 1 March 1973 [13 March 1972] 11695/72 Heading H1N [Also in Division H2] An overload protective device comprises current sensing means 10, 14 providing a signal when the load current exceeds a predetermined value, semi-conductor current limiting means 8 to limit the load current in response to the signal and an electromagnetic relay arrangement to break the circuit in response to the signal. As shown, when the current through a resistor 10 exceeds the predetermined value, an amplifier 14 provides the signal to the bases of transistors 18, 23. These transistors now conduct, the transistor 18 causing the current limiting transistor 8 to limit the current and the transistor 23 energising the coil 6 of a relay which opens contacts 4 in the load circuit and opens contacts 26 to hold the transistor 23 on by a bias due to resistors 28, 30, so that the relay coil remains energised. The amplifier 14 has a positive feed-back circuit 16.
