Abstract

1423246 Unsaturated polyurethane resins DAINIPPON INK & CHEMICALS Inc 26 Oct 1973 [31 Oct 1972] 50024/73 Headings C3B and C3P A solution, in a polymerizable vinyl monomer (I), of an unsaturated polyurethane resin is prepared by reacting, in the presence of I, (A) an unsaturated monobasic acid diester of a diepoxide substantially free from OH groups, with (B) a diisocyanate, in the presence or absence of (C) an oligopolyester glycol derived from a glycol and a dibasic acid. From 0À2 to 1À0 isocyanate groups in (B) are present per OH group in (A) and (C) where present. Suitable diepoxides are diglycidyl or dimethylglycidyl ethers or esters. (B) may be tolylene, xylylene or hexamethylene diisocyanate. I may be styrene, a substituted styrene, an acrylic or methacrylic ester. Copolymerization of the unsaturated resin and the vinyl monomer may take place in the presence of a peroxide catalyst. The storage stability of the solution may be improved by adding a monoalkyl ester of an unsaturated dibasic acid.
