1423130 Spring-unit resilient mountings REMPLOY Ltd 25 Jan 1973 [29 Dec 1971] 60447/71 Heading F2S [Also in Division A4] A resilient mounting of adjustable length, such as a strut 16 of a rotatable chair 10, or a machine stand, has two helical springs 22, 32 of similar diameter and pitch, coils of one having been "screwed" into coils of the other, the spring column being supported by telescoping hollow members, either an internal pair 20, 28 or an external pair 24, 30 or as shown, both, and the mounting being adjustable in length by relative rotation of the springs. By revolution of the seat 10, or of a boss 18, if it is rotatable on the seat undersurface (the spring 22 and tube 24 being secured to the boss), the height of the seat can be adjusted. In a squat embodiment, for use as a machine stand, the upper tubular body (20a) is cupshaped and is attached to a piston-rod (34) of an internal damper of which the cylinder (36) is secured to the bottom of the lower tubular body (28a). The tubular bodies can be locked together against movement, by an external horizontal screw (38) carried on the lower body (28a) and capable of engaging the upper body (20a):
