Abstract

1423059 Bending and coiling SOC DES HAUTS FOURNEAUX DE LA CHIERS, COFLEXIP and INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE DES CARBURANTS ET LUBRIFIANTS 25 April 1973 [28 April 1972] 19568/73 Heading B3E [Also in Division F2] A preferably metallic strip 3a is subjected to a non-elastic deformation, prior to winding into tubular form, so that, after being wound, it has no tendency to unwind spontaneously. The strip is given a curved form in its own plane, as it passes through grooved idler rollers 24a, 25a and is thereafter twisted through 90 degrees out of its original plane, to pass between driven rollers 23a and 23b. A number of steel strips may be wound on a plastic tubular liner (1, Figs. 7 and 8, not shown). Further strips may be wound in the opposite direction thereover.
