Abstract

1422878 Printing synthetic materials BADISCHE ANILIN-& SODA-FABRIK AG 1 June 1973 [2 June 1972] 26157/73 Heading D1B Polyester and polyamide materials are printed with a print paste containing a synthetic thickener and at least one dye chosen from acid dyes, metal complex dyes and disperse dyes, the print paste containing as thickener from 0.25 to 5% by weight (based on the print paste) of a mixture of the following components (a) from 0.5 to 50% by weight (based on the mixture of (a), (b) and (c)) of a copolymer of (1) from 95 to 99.95% by weight (based on the copolymer) of acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid, and (2) from 5 to 0.05% by weight of a copolymerisable monomer having two double bonds, (b) from 10 to 80% by weight (based on the mixture of (a), (b) and (c)) of an organic liquid which does not dissolve the polymer (a) and which boils at above 130‹C and which prior to being mixed with components (a) and (c) contains less than 2% by weight of water based on the liquid and (c) from 0.5 to 5% by weight (based on the mixture of (a), (b) and (c)) of a nonionic or anionic emulsifier, the carboxylic acid groups of the copolymer (a) being neutralized before or during the preparation of the print paste, the printed material not being dried prior to fixation of the print. Copolymerisable monomers include divinylethane, divinylnaphthalene, butanediol diacrylate, divinylbenzene, divinyldionane and divinylpyrrole. Liquids of boiling point above 130‹C include castor oil, tetra C 16-18 alkyl ester of silicic acid and isodecylstearate. Polyamide and polyester carpets may be dyed.
