Abstract
1422708 Moulding pipe couplings T TARUKAWA and H TARUKAWA 13 Feb 1973 [19 Feb 1972 15 June 1972 30 Sept 1972] 6959/73 Heading B5A [Also in Division F2] A pipe coupling or pipe (see Division F2) comprises an outer shell of a mixture of cement with an inorganic fibrous material selected from the group asbestos, glass fibre or rock wool, and an inner layer of synthetic resin such as vinyl, silicon, polyester or phenolic resins with a glass fibre filler. Joints are sealed by 0-rings which may be seated in grooves in the socket wall, and the sockets include annular internal shoulders. T- or Y-junctions and straight pipes are described with circular, oval or polygonal crosssections. Moulding.-A T-junction is produced in a closed cavity defined by horizontally movable mould halves M 1 , M 2 (Fig. 4), a horizontally movable ram R 2 , a vertically movable ram R 1 , and a material feeder 23. The feeder supports on spokes a guide block 35 (Fig. 7). A core C of synthetic resin is placed on ram R 1 , and the mould closed. A plunger 24 (Fig. 4) forces cement and the inorganic fibrous material into the moulding cavity. The core C can be left as an integral part of the T-junction, or is removed and replaced by a synthetic resin layer by brushing or by centrifugally rotating the cement shell.
