Abstract

1422252 Pneumatic conveyers BAKER PERKINS HOLDINGS Ltd 15 March 1974 [28 March 1973] 14979/73 Heading B8A A pneumatic conveyer on which agglomerates of particulate material are broken down and/or scrubbed, includes a conduit having a substantially rigid continuous inner surface portion with corrugations or ribs transversely to the direction of flow of material. In the Figure agglomerates of material from used foundry cores or moulds are conveyed up conduit 15 by suction through cyclone separator 16. A corrugated or ribbed plate 17, preferably of white iron, is placed at the elbow of the conduit such that the material is broken down and/or scrubbed by friction with the plate as it is carried round the corner. A similar plate 18 is mounted along one wall of the cyclone separator 16. Fine material is carried up pipe 20 and along pipe 19 to an air filter and dust hopper, while heavier particles drop to the bottom of the cyclone separator and are returned to suction pipe 15.
