Abstract

The particle and air mixt. enters the silo through a pipe (2) the direction of flow being through the filter packets (5) and pipes (7) to a pump (3). The filters separate the air from the particles, most of which fall to the silo floor (4). The filter pockets are reinforced internally at the corners by metal strips and are wedged to a support plate (9) by a cylindrical collar block which incorporates a venturi the pocket being stuck or moulded to this block. They are also separated from each other by internal flexible walls (8) which are fixed to the support plate by their top edge. Reverse currents of air can be blown into individual filter pockets from the pump to dislodge stuck particles and the internal walls prevent these particles from then lodging on a neighbouring filter pocket.
