Abstract

1421929 Xerography XEROX CORP 27 March 1973 [27 March 1972] 14703/73 Heading G2H [Also in Division B6] A xerographic printing machine in which a toner powder image is transferred on to a sheet of support material, e.g. paper 36, releasably secured to a transfer roll 34, includes means 45 for cleaning the roll 34 after the sheet of paper 36 has been removed therefrom. The cleaning means 45 comprises a rotary driven brush 44 mounted within a housing 42 connected by a flexible hose (60) via a filter (61) to a suction fan (66). The housing 42 is pivotable towards the roll 34, to engage the brush 44 therewith, by a rotary driven cam 46 at the required pre-set intervals. The invention is applied to a multi-colour xerographic printing machine in which a paper sheet 36, secured on the roll 34, has three different colour toner images successively transferred on to it before it is stripped off and passed through a fuser 38.
