Abstract

1476782 Colour developing apparatus for electro-photography CANON KK 14 June 1974 [15 June 1973] 26482/74 Heading G2H Electro-photographic copying apparatus for producing multi-colour copies comprises means for forming on a member 1 electrostatic latent images of different colour contents of the original to be copied, and means 7 for developing said latent images with respective different coloured developer material, said developing means comprising a single developing device operable to develop images with liquid developer, and means for supplying thereto and removing therefrom different coloured developers in succession. Means (not shown) are provided at drum 1 for imagewise exposing, image transfer, and cleaning; developer station 7 is fed with a given colour at manifold 3 from a respective supply pipe 3 1 - 3 4 ; the liquid runs down 6 to electrode 7 and developes the image on drum 1; excess liquid runs down at 8 to moving belt 10, and is scraped therefrom by one of the scrapers 13 on pivot arm 14 into tray 16 for recycle to appropriate supply pipe 3 1 - 3 4 , backing member 12 assisting the scraping, and brush 17 assisting in cleaning band 10, which may be conductive and voltage-biased for better developer pick-up. In other embodiments (not shown), the member 1 takes the form of a belt or reciprocating plate; belt 10 may move in the same direction as member 1; an off-setting roll may transfer developer from member 1 to belt 10.
