1421682 Making metal frames J R FURNES [trading as FTTRNES JERN & METALL] 14 May 1974 [25 May 1973] 21201/74 Heading 83 [Also in Division A4] Sinuous springs 4 extend between opposed sides of a frame 3 formed by metal tube fashioned to provide mountings 2 for the spring ends, each mounting 2 being formed by cutting a pair of spaced notches 6 in the tube, pressing the tube, as at 7, 7, between the notches 6 to press out a sleeve 5, and simultaneously pressing the tube inwardly, as at 9, in the regions adjacent the notches 6 and lying outwardly thereof, whereby the notch 6 at each end is shaped to define an end opening to the sleeve. Each sleeve 5 may be fitted with a plastics sleeve 11, e.g. of nylon, with an annular flange to cover the end edge of the sleeve.
