Abstract
1421626 Coil winding apparatus; winding cores MECBAR SpA 5 Feb 1973 [17 May 1972] 5599/73 Headings B3A and B3E Coil winding apparatus comprises a winding head rotatable about a first axis X-X and movable along the axis, a support device 6 rotatable about a second axis Y-Y inclined to the axis X-X, arrays of first and second parallel, elongate supports 8, 10, mounted on the support device, the supports being arranged in groups such that the ends of the first and second support in each group lie in a plane perpendicular to the axis X-X, whereby on rotation of the winding head in one axial position and about the first axis, a coil will be wound about one group of first and second supports, the turns of which, under the effect of winding tension, come to lie in planes perpendicular to the second axis Y-Y. Coils S 1 -S 4 , Fig. 2, are wound successively and the winding head is advanced to planes A 1 -A 4 prior to winding each coil. When the coils of a first group of coils have been wound, a plate 14 is rotated to align a further support device with the winding head, Figs. 8, 9 (not shown), and the direction of the winding head rotation is reversed for the coils of a second group. As the plate 14 rotates, a stud 17 moves down a cam 18 and a spring biased stud 16 pivots the second supports 10 to release the tension on the wound coils, thereby facilitating their removal from the winding apparatus. The support device may include insertion equipment (22), (22<SP>1</SP>), Figs. 6, 9 (not shown), on to which a stator is placed for insertion of the coils. The first supports may comprise profiled flanges (21), Fig. 5 (not shown), and the second supports may also be similarly shaped, Fig. 3 (not shown).
