142,114. Kodak, Ltd., (Assignees of Altschuler, J.). April 28, 1917, [Convention date]. Measuring.-For numbering kinematograph films, a series of numerals and other indications successively displayed by a counter of known construction are photographed upon the edge of a film that is moved intermittingly. The apparatus may be combined with a perforating - machine. The casing of an apparatus has a removable door and a slot 13 situated at the side of the filmguide 14. The counter 20 is illuminated by a lamp 32 and reflector 33, and the face of the counter is projected on the film through the slot 13 on a reduced scale by the lens 35. The face of the counter may in addition to the numbers also have other matter such as the date. The counter is given from gearing 26 running synchronously with the perforating-machine which is used to feed the film. The film is exposed by a slotted shutter 42 driven synchronously from a crank-shaft 49.
