Abstract

1420670 Locking hinges NISSAN MOTOR CO LTD and FUJI KIKO CO LTD 25 Oct 1973 [25 Oct 1972 16 March 1973] 49746/73 Heading E2F [Also in Division A4] Two release levers 104, 128 and a locking plate 70 are associated with a mechanism for allowing the backrest of a vehicle seat to be returned to a pre-set position after being tilted forwards, the locking plate being releasably locked against rotation relative to the backrest bracket 34 by engagement of a pawl 86 with a rack 76 and releasably locked against movement relative to a stop plate 92 by engagement of a pin 98 with a notch 82, one of the release levers 128 being manually operable to release the lock between the locking plate and the stop plate by engagement of a cam 132 on the lever with a cam 102 on the stop plate and to move the other release lever 104 by engagement of a pin 136 on the lever 128 with a projection 112 on the lever 104 to cause a pawl 52 on the seat bracket 18 to disengage a rack on the backrest bracket such that the backrest can be forwardly tilted with the locking plate moving with the backrest and the other release lever 104 being manually operable, when the backrest is in the upright position, to release the locks between the locking plate and the backrest bracket and the pawl and the backrest to allow the backrest to be adjusted within limits defined by the ends of a slot 78 of a pin and slot connection between the braoket and the locking plate.
