1420378 Driving tandem carding machines TOYODA JIDOSHOKKI SEISAKUSHO KK 18 Dec 1973 58674/73 Headings DID and D1N In a tandem carding machine two motors 24 and 67 are provided, the first motor 24 driving the carding members of the first card and additionally via a clutch 35 the fiber advancing members of both cards and of the sliver coiler (not shown in Fig. 2), and the second motor 67 driving the second card. An electric circuit is provided which, during the starting cycle, prevents the first motor from being started before the second motor and, during the stopping cycle, stops the second motor before the first motor, the first motor being stopped after a time delay. In the event of various faults being detected during the operation of the machine the clutch 35 is released to stop advancement of fiber through the machine. The various faults referred to are detected as follows:- Fig. 4. In the fiber feed, the feed roller 1 is biassed against the feed pedal 2 by a spring 84 operating on a lever 81. When a roll wrap develops the lever is displaced upward and operates a micro-switch 83. Fig. 5. A stripper roller 7 in the feed between the first and second carding machines has a clearer roller 86 which is lifted by a wrap on roller 7 to operate a micro-switch 89. Fig. 6.
