Abstract

1419997 Cable fittings TRIPLE BEE PRESTRESS PTY LTD 7 May 1973 [8 May 1972 23 Oct 1972 13 April 1973] 21611/73 Heading D1T [Also in Division E2] A device for anchoring or coupling cables comprises a housing 2 having a pair of passages 6 therethrough, each passage being of generally rectangular cross section with two opposite sides 4 thereof substantially parallel and the other two sides 5 convergent towards each other towards one end of the passage, and a separate wedge for each passage and conforming substantially to the shape of the passages with the opposed convergent faces of the wedge and housing having therein recesses shaped to conform to the surface of a respective cable to be engaged therebetween at least one face of each pair of opposed convergent faces being deformable by contact with a cable during use. Each wedge is made of a soft metal, such as mild steel, which is deformable by a cable during use. Each wedge has holes 8 wherein pins 9 may be inserted to limit entry of the wedge into the passage whereby the cable tension is adjustable. A number of the housings may be secured to a plate having openings aligned with the passages. As shown in Fig. 3, each housing 11 is secured to an apertured flange, and a plurality of the flanges are secured together. One end of each housing has a lip to attach a flexible sheath 21 which is secured to a junction member 22 connected to a common sheath 23. As shown in Figs. 5, 6, the housing 28 has two pairs of passages, the side walls of one pair diverging in the opposite direction from those of the other pair to couple four pairs of cables together. The two outer passages are parallel to the inclined outer walls of the housing and the two inner passages are parallel to the axis of the housing. The cables 25 are secured to an anchoring device 26 and the cables 27 extend from a cable sheath 29.
