1419482 Laminates HAYASHIBARA BIOCHEMICAL LABORATORIES Inc 22 Jan 1974 [23 Jan 1973] 9482/74 Divided out of 1418241 Heading B5N [Also in Division C3 and D1] A method of bonding together two or more materials which may be of the same or different constitution, being paper, textile, fabrics, wood products, glass, metal and plastics, comprises providing a wet composition, which is a solution or dispersion of an alkyl or substituted alkyl ether of pullulan in a liquid medium consisting of water or a mixture of water and a watermiscible organic solvent, or at least one of the materials and bringing the materials together so that they make contact at a surface provided with the wet composition. Preferably the pullulan ether is the methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, carboxymethyl, hydroxyethyl or hydroxypropyl derivative (see Division C3). In addition the paste composition may comprise a pullulan ester, preferably an aliphatic (C 1 -C 6 ) or aromatic carboxylic ester. A polyhydric alcohol plasticizer may also be included, e.g. glycerol, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, trimethylol propane, sorbitol or maltitol together with a further hydrophilic additive such as pullulan, amylose, starch, modified starch, gelatine or polyvinyl alcohol.
