Abstract

1419177 Cathode-ray tube circuits; television line time-base circuits LOEWE OPTA GmbH 25 Oct 1973 [28 Oct 1972] 49674/73 Headings H3T and H4T [Also in Division H2] A television receiver employing a thyristorized horizontal deflection circuit is provided with a protective circuit which, in response to certain abnormal operating conditions shortcircuits the power supply to the fly-back thyristor of the deflection circuit, by rendering the latter conductive. This causes a reconnectable electronic fuse in the D.C. supply to the deflection to break and so interrupt the operation until it is reset. Fig. 1, shows one embodiment in which, when a voltage proportional to the deflecting current in the tangent correcting capacitor ("S"-shaping capacitor) 8 falls below a predetermined voltage and/or when, due to excess beam current in the cathode-ray tube, the voltage across resistor 48 in the secondary winding of the EHT transformer exceeds a predetermined value, respective circuits 15, 16 produce respective outputs which cause a gating circuit 14 to short-circuit the triggering pulses to ground and to apply the supply voltage U B to the ignition electrode of thyristor 2. The latter is thus rendered continuously conductive and short-circuits the supply.
