Abstract
1418761 Fuse element housings SIEMENS AG 17 Jan 1973 [3 Feb 1972] 2530/73 Heading H2G A housing 1 for an electrical fuse element 2 has a filling aperture 4 for charging the interior thereof with an arc extinguishing medium, with a bore extending transversely of and intersecting the filling aperture, so as to receive a sealing plug which seals the filling aperture. The sealing plug may be hollow, e.g. a split sleeve, tubular rivet, or may be a grooved dowel pin. Fig. 1 shows partially a half shell of the housing with fuse element 2, contact blades 3, filling aperture 4, and the transverse bore through which extends sealing plug 5. In another embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), a resilient block (7) of, e.g. silicone rubber, is arranged in a recess, formed in the shells (1), which is larger than filling aperture (4), and may be provided with an aperture aligned with aperture 4, the sealing plug being engaged by a transverse screw (5) which may also be disposed to hold together the two shells (1). In a further embodiment (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown), the cross bore may be initially sealed by thin pressure-rupturable walls (8), and in another embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown) the plug may be a spreader element having a non-deformable head and a radially compressible head at the other end thereof.
