Abstract

1418427 Riding toy MARVIN GLASS & ASSOCIATES 23 Jan 1974 [31 Jan 1973] 03156/74 Heading A6M [Also in Division B7] An animated riding toy 10 includes a body portion 12 on which a child may sit, wheels 14, 16 and an appendage (e.g. a neck and head) which is moved in response to movement of the wheels 16. As described the toy 10 is in the form of a duck and includes a hollow body 12, handle 24, a neck and a head 56. One end 34a of a crank shaped rod 34 is journalled in a plate 40 in the body 12 and the other end 34b of the rod 34 is journalled in the base 57 of the head 56. A tubular accordian type flexible sheath 66 is fixed at one end ot the body 12 and at the other end to the head 56. The crank rod 34 is rotated about the axis of end 34a as a result of rotation of wheels 16 by means of a linkage including axle 20, gears 54, 52, shaft 46 and gears 44, 42. Rotation of the crank rod 34 causes the head 36 to move along a circular path and the neck to trace a conical path.
