Abstract
1418113 Tubular heat exchange elements UOP Inc 6 March 1973 [7 March 1972] 10708/73 Heading F4S A metal heat exchange tube 10 is formed with a single start internal helical ridge, the internal surface of the tube being so contoured and dimensioned that #, a parameter defined by the relationship # = e<SP>2</SP>/pdi, lies within the following limits 0À1 x 10<SP>-2</SP> < # < 0À365 x 10<SP>-2</SP>, where e is the height of the helical ridge, p is the helical pitch and di is the inside diameter of the tube. The ridge portions 20 are generally convex towards the inside of the tube and are separated by connecting portions 22 which may be concave, as shown, or be flat over a substantial portion of their length (see Fig. 3, not shown).
