Abstract

1417898 Vehicle sun shields DAIMLER-BENZ AG 26 June 1973 [28 June 1972] 30247/73 Heading B7J A vehicle sun shield assembly comprises a shield 1 pivoted to a driver's cab roof 8 by one or more hinges, Fig. 3, each hinge part 6 carrying a pivot pin 7 and being riveted to the roof, with the hinge parts 5, of U-section, forming friction bearings for the pivot pins and being screwed to the shield by screws 15 which serve also to vary the frictional resistance. The shield has a rigid inner layer 21 with foam outer layers 22, 23, each screw 15 being located in a sleeve having flange 24 and portion 25 equal to the outer and inner layer thicknesses. A projection at the end of the arm of the hinge part 5 nearest the shield has projections which engage the shield and the end of the other arm has an angled abutment engageable with the first arm. If more than one hinge is provided the pivot pin of one hinge projects in the opposite direction to the pins of the or each other hinge.
