Abstract

1417821 Incinerator AIR PREHEATER CO Inc 14 Jan 1974 [16 Jan 1973] 01747/74 Heading F4B An incinerator has a primary chamber 12 above a second chamber 38 separated by a movable closure 36 that is opened by an actuator 42 to permit material to slide from the primary chamber into the secondary chamber. An outlet 16 from the primary chamber connects with an after burner 22 with fuel supply 34 and air supply 32. The chambers normally operate in series. Waste material is fed through loading door 14 and is initially burnt in chamber 12 by application of heat from fuel supply 55 and air supply 29. Incompletely burned residual matter is dumped into chamber 38 and limited combustion is maintained by fuel source 37 and air supply 35. Gas from chamber 38 may be selectively directed back to chamber 12 or to the after burner 22 by operation of valves 45 and 47 in duct 44. Large particles of ash are removed via collector 51. Chamber 38 may be isolated by closing valves 39, 41 and 45, 47 and a water spray 58 may be used to lower the temperature before removal of ash from door 43.
