Abstract

1417471 Offshore structures O MO 19 April 1973 [2 May 1972] 19157/73 Heading E1H A marine structure comprises a base 10 with at least three cells 8, a superstructure 11, and downwardly open skirts 3 which project downwardly from at least some of the cells 8, the skirts being integral with the base 10 and having a length which enables it to be pressed down into the sea bed to a depth such that they cooperate directly with the deeper layers of the sea bed soil to support the structure, and the skirts 3 having at least some parts thereof extending along the periphery of the base, said parts being joined to form a continuous barrier wall along the base periphery. As shown in Fig. 10, all the cells have skirts 3 and the continuous barrier wall is formed entirely by skirt walls. However, only the cells B need be given skirts in which case they are interconnected by a wall extending along the periphery of the base so as to form the continuous barrier wall.
