Abstract

1417441 Mobile cranes ETABS BRAUD & FAUCHEUX 21 Feb 1973 [22 Feb 1972] 8560/73 Heading B8B [Also in Division B7] A mobile crane for use in building construction comprises a crane carrier chassis 13 coupled at 12 to a tractor 10 having one driven axle 11 and provided with a crane 14. The coupling 12 comprises a hollow easing 17 attached to the rear of the tractor 10 and having a horizontal shaft 18 fixed therein. A sleeve 25 is arranged over the shaft 18 and has two parallel radial extensions 26, 27. On the extension 26 there are rigidly fastened a horizontal connecting rod 30 at 90 degrees to the shaft 18 and a horizontal arm 31 parallel to the shaft 18. The arm 31 is attached to the extension 27 by a bolt 34 about which is a sleeve 38 fastened to the crane carrier chassis 13. A double-acting hydraulic cylinder 41 is pivoted to the free end of the arm 30 and to the crane carrier chassis 13 by a universal joint 42, 43. The shaft 18 allows the crane carrier chassis 13 to pivot freely about a horizontal axis with respect to the tractor 10, while the turning circle of the crane can be made very small by pivoting the tractor 10 relative to the crane chassis 13 about a vertical axis, formed by the bolt 34, using the cylinder 41. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), a pair of symmetrically connected single-acting cylinders (72), (73) may replace the double-acting cylinder 41.
