Abstract
1417165 Knitting COURTAULDS LTD 13 April 1973 [14 April 1972] 17233/72 Heading D1K In a method of widening plain fabric knit on a two bed machine e.g. tubular fabric, an additional needle is introduced at one crossover and the limbs of the loop produced crossed. While the carriage is moving in direction A to supply needles of bed 11, needle 35 Fig. 3b, of bed B is introduced. During traverse B needle 35 does not operate. The limbs 37, 38 of the loop thereon are crossed, and alleviate hole formation associated with conventional widening. To balance the number of active needles on the two beds, needle 40 Fig. 3e, f is introduced at the start of traverse B. The two procedures occur alternately. In an alternative procedure the loop formed on a needle introduced at the end of a traverse is transferred to a needle of the opposite bed. Its limbs thus became crossed.
