Abstract

1417117 Antibacterial detergent composition COALITE & CHEMICAL PRODUCTS LTD 21 Nov 1973 [21 Sept 1972] 43855/72 Heading A5E [Also in Division C5] An aqueous antibacterial detergent composition comprises (A) an anionic detergent, (B) a phenolic constituent having bacteriostatic or bactericidal properties and (C) from 1.5 to 4 parts by wt. of a solubiliser per part by wt. of the phenolic constituent, the solubiliser being an alcohol which is a glycol ether with or without one or more alcohols. (B) may be an alkyl phenol, an aryl phenol, a chlorinated phenol or a mixture thereof e.g. a mixture of 4-tert amyl phenol, o-phenylphenol and 2-benzyl-4- chlorophenol (4.5:2.6:5% wt), (C) may be a C1-C4 alkanol, a C1-C6 monoalkyl ether of ethylene glycol or a mixture thereof. Preferred anionics are alkyl benzene sulphonates and secondary alkyl sulphates. Optional surfactants are nonionic e.g. ethylene oxide condensates of C6-C15 alcohols, alkyl phenols and fatty acid alkanolamides. The compositions are used as aqueous concentrates of pH 6.0 to 8.5 and are used in cleaning crockery and cutlery.
