Abstract

1416571 Pulse generating circuits ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO Ltd 22 Nov 1973 [27 Jan 1973] 4269/73 Headings H3P and H3T A single switch 4 both discharges a pulse forming network 1 into a load 5, and also causes resonant recharging of the pulse forming network by a D.C. source through a tuned circuit 6, 7. The switch 4 operates at the tuned circuit frequency or a submultiple thereof, and may be a thyristor, a thyratron, an ignitron or a trigatron. Assuming the PFN 1 to have been first discharged by switch 4, the latter continues conducting until point A goes negative, the tuned circuit having the effect of reversing the voltage at A relative to the negative D.C. terminal. The oscillation continues until A goes positive, diode 3 conducts, and PFN 1 is recharged ready for the next operation of switch 4.
