Abstract

1,088,761. Pulse generating circuits. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan. 25, 1965 [Jan. 23, 1964], No. 2984/64. Headings H3P and H3T. In a pulse generator of the type described in Specification 947,884 in which a pulse is generated in load 3 by discharging a delay line 1 via a switching device S1, the pulse duration being adjustable by controlling the operating time of an auxiliary switching device S2; the major part of the energy passed by S2 is returned to the system. As described, the delay line 1 is resonantly charged via inductor L and diode D. The line 1 is discharged by first triggering an ignitron, SCR or thyratron S2 which discharges part of the line 1 into the power supply capacitor C then, after an adjustable delay, discharging the rest of the energy from line 1 via switching device S1 into a load 3. In Figs. 3-5 (not shown) the cathode of S2 may be connected via a diode or auxiliary voltage source to the supply line or may be connected to the tap on a capacitor divider across the supply line. In Fig. 7 the load 3 is connected across the supply via capacitor C and a reversevoltage protection diode D is provided.
