Abstract
1,146,458. Transistor amplifiers; amplitude modulation. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP. 23 Oct., 1967 [16 Nov., 1966], No. 48020/67. Headings H3R and H3T. [Also in Division H2] A circuit in which semi-conductor switches 2 4 alternately conduct to cause current to flow into and out of a series resonant, network 8 (such as an antenna) which tends to continue to oscillate when the drive to the switches is removed, has undirectional conductors 22, 24 connected in series with the switches in such polarity as to block the discharge of the interelectrode capacitance when the drive is removed. It is explained that this discharge current would otherwise flow to the base and switch on the semi-conductor switch, thereby continuing the oscillation when switch 14 is opened. The diodes alternatively could be connected to the power supply connections (Fig. 3, not shown) and diodes 16, 18 return oscillation energy in the power supply when the drive is removed. Each single transistor shown may be replaced by a plurality in series or parallel.
