Abstract

1416226 Cathode - ray tube displays BRITISH BROADCASTING CORP 23 May 1974 [23 May 1973] 24600/73 Heading H4T In a dot-matrix character display system in which characters are produced by intensification of an interlaced line raster on a cathoderay tube as shown in Fig. 1(a) in respect of the character S in a 7 x 5 dot matrix, the coarsely serrated edges of diagonal parts, which lead to a visually noticeable reduction in brightness, are " smoothed " by " filling-in " with additional half-dot duration brightnened elements such as shown hatched at 10, 10 and 11, 11, Fig. 1(b), in respect of the diagonals sloping upwardly to the right hand side and to the left hand side respectively. Logic circuits for carrying out the invention are described with reference to Figs. 4 and 5 (neither shown).
