Abstract
1,195,757. Colour television. BRITISH RADIO CORP. Ltd. 2 Dec., 1968, No. 57134/68. Heading H4F. Relates to apparatus for increasing the proportion of either red or blue in the displayed picture of a tri-gun colour television tube while leaving at least the green substantially unaffected, said apparatus comprising means for altering the D.C. voltage level applied to the red or blue guns without affecting that applied to the green gun, said three guns being supplied by a common D.C. voltage generator. As shown in Fig. 1 the apparatus comprises a resistance network, terminal 10 being connected to the output of the high-tension D.C. voltage generator and terminals 23, 24 and 25 being connected to the first anodes of the green, red and blue guns respectively. Since the potentiometer 20 is arranged to have a very much higher resistance than that of resistors 12 and 13, movement of the slider of this potentiometer, for example to the left, will cause the potential at point A to increase very much more than the corresponding decrease at point C. Hence movement to the left causes the first anode potential of the red tube to increase without substantially affecting that of the green and blue tubes. Fig. 2 (not shown) illustrates an alternative arrangement in which a centre-tapped potentiometer is employed in place of potentiometer 20.
