1416148 Laminates VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT ELECTROMASHINOSTROENIA 7 Nov 1972 51278/72 Heading B5N [Also in Division B2] An electrical insulating material comprises a glass fibre fabric varnished with a composition comprising an escapon compound and up to 30% by weight of an organosilicon compound bonded to a mica material with a bonding agent comprising a liquid synthetic rubber, abutyl phenol/ formaldehyde resin and a mineral or vegetable oil, the bonding agent being present in an amount of 5-30% by weight of-the insulating material. The escapon is an electricallyinsulating synethic rubber prepared by heating unvulcanized synthetic rubber without a vulcanizing agent in the presence or absence of air. The composition used to varnish the glass fibre fabric which may be applied by dipping, spraying or brushing and then heated at 150- 300‹ C. may comprise synthetic rubber, escapon compound, oil, phenyl-#-naphthylamine, lead resinate and liquid polyethylhydrosiloxane or polyphenyl hydrosiloxane. The bonding agent may then be applied to the coated glass fibre fabric by dipping, brushing or spraying and mica paper applied to one or both surfaces thereof and the resultant structure rolled on hot calenders and then heat treated at 100-200‹ C. for 0À2-5 hours. A sticky layer comprising synthetic rubber, wastes of a synthetic rubber polymerization process (polydienes, styrene and methylmethacrylate), vegetable oil, epoxy resin, phenol/formaldehyde resin and hardener, may be applied to the surface of the insulating material in an amount of 5-30% by weight by dipping, spraying or brushing. The electrical insulating material may be provided on at least one surface with an insulating film, e.g. of polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene, polytetrafluoro ethylene, polycarbonate or cellulose polyacetate.
