Abstract

1415747 Vertical slat blind FRANCIAFLEX 6 July 1973 [8 Aug 1972 11 Oct 1972] 32418/73 Heading 1EJ [Also in Division F2] A blind has vertical slats pivotably supported from runners 5 which are translatable in a guide I and are connected by a flexible link, a cord 11 attached to the leading runner passing round a drive pulley 12 to effect translation, a rod 18 having worm gears engaging pinions on slat carrying shafts in the runners effecting pivoting of the slats, a single rotatable member 19 controlling the drive pulley and rod via respective clutches. When rod 19 is rotated, sun gear (20, Fig. 2) drives gears (22) to stops (23) and the pulley 12 is then rotated and causes cord 11 to draw the leading runner 5 along. Before the pulley 12 becomes operative, bevel gear (24, Fig. 3) drives gear (25) which drives gears (27, 28) and a. shaft (30) which is connected by contracted spring (31) to shaft (35) fastened to rod 18 and the slats are thus turned until perpendicular to rail 1. Sleeve (36) then becomes movable and allows spring (31) to expand and release shaft (30), thus stopping pivoting. At this point the pulley 12 becomes operative and the slats are translated. In an alternative connection (Fig. 8 not shown), rod (19) moves bevel (50) to operate rod 18, and pivot the slats, until gears (22) are stopped, spring (65) then expands releasing rod (19) from the gears. Disc (59) then rises and releases tongues (54) from teeth (56) allowing sleeve (53) to turn and tighten spring (57) on rod 19 so that it drives pulley 12 to translate the slats. In Fig. 9 (not shown), the rod 19 is again connected to pulley 12 by planetary gears 74.
