Abstract

1415570 Fastener driving tool DIETER HAUBOLD INDUSTRIELLE NAGELGERATE 11 May 1973 [17 May 1972] 22537/73 Heading B4C [Also in Division F2] A hand tool for pneumatically driving fasteners such as staples or nails into a workpiece, comprises an annular piston 11 which moves against, and away from, the end of the cylinder 4 forming an in-take valve which operates in association with a second spring- biased piston 12 depending on a pressure differential controlled by a control valve 10. As shown in Fig. 2 the control valve allows air pressure through passage 16 to act on the pistons in chamber 15 and close the intake valve. In the closed position the piston 11 deflects portions of a sealing disc 22 to vent the chamber to atmosphere through passages 19 and 20. With the control valve in a second position the chamber 15 is vented to atmosphere through passages 16 and 18 and air pressure acts on the underside of piston 11 to open the valve. In other embodiments the sealing disc is dispensed with and the chamber is vented through passages controlled by the position of the piston 11 relative to the cylinder head 6. In other embodiments, the chamber is vented via a spring- loaded valve actuated by air pressure from chamber 15.
