Abstract

1415482 Hot pressing refractory powders CARBORUNDUM CO 4 March 1974 [12 March 1973] 9610/74 Heading B5A [Also in Division C7] Carbon reactive refractory material is hot pressed in a graphite mould the interior surfaces of which and the surfaces of the pressure rams contacting the refractory material being lined with a layer of refractory metal. The refractory material may be Si, B, Zr, Nb, Ti, Ta, Mo or W or their carbides, borides, nitrides or silicides or a phosphide of B or Si. The refractory metal lining may be Ta, Mo, W, Hf, Zr, Nb or Ti or their alloys which may be applied to the graphite mould and rams as a foil, by spraying or by vapour deposition.
